Fried Family Establishes Endowment

Joel Fried and Wendy Rappaport of Canton recently made a gift of $10,000 to establish the Richard B. Fried Fund for the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving in memory and honor of Joel’s brother, Richard (pictured on left). The new fund is the biggest individual gift made to benefit CARC in the organization's history. Joel and Wendy have a long-standing history as philanthropists, community activists, artists, and civic leaders. They, along with their two daughters, Nicole and Tracey, are volunteers in both Hartford and their hometown of Canton.

The Richard B. Fried Fund for the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition (CARC) is a permanent endowment fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving that provides ongoing support for CARC to advocate on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS in Connecticut to ensure a full range of quality housing and services necessary to maximize their potential and live their lives in dignity.

To support CARC's endowment efforts through the Fund, please make checks payable to HFPG, Inc. and reference The Richard B. Fried/CARC Fund. Mail to: The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, 10 Columbus Boulevard, 8th Floor, Hartford, CT 06106.

If you would like to include CARC in your estate planning, please contact CARC at (860) 761-6699.

For the Future

With a clear understanding that a cure for HIV/AIDS will not be forthcoming, perhaps for decades, CARC has determined that it must be a viable organization until there is such a vaccine or elimination of the virus. In order to ensure the future of the organization and to create the ability to further and expand our services to our communities, we have created the Richard B. Fried Fund for the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition.
